Rail Vise Assembly For AR-15 Cleaning and Maintenance
The Rail Vise was developed to solve a very specific problem. All other gun cleaning and maintenance stands
or cradles are designed hold traditional rifles. Rifles with a wooden stock firmly attached to the action and barrel.
These traditional cradles clamp or hold the buttstock and the barrel or foregrip.
The AR-15 rifle is quite different in that the Upper and Lower Receivers must be separated to perform any cleaning.
With the rifle disassembled in this fashion, both the Upper and Lower Receiver are a bit unwieldy and not readily
grasped for cleaning.
With the creation of the Rail Vise, is is now possible to hold the AR-15 rifle in a secure, “rock solid” position
resulting in total access to those areas of the rifle that require detailed cleaning.
The Rail Vise clamps on the Picatinny rail (MIL-STD-1913) to hold the rifle in a secure and stable manner.
In the photos you can see the Rail Vise being used to hold the Upper Receiver by the rail and the Lower
Receiver by using the Mag Well Adapter.
The Rail Vise Assembly consists of the standard four piece polymer Rail Vise Kit components plus a black
anodized aluminum extrusion Platform. Our long aluminum platform provides two full length channels that
accept 1/4"-20 hex head bolts that make it fully adjustable for both long and short barreled firearms.
Also in our standard parts is the Adapter Rail which replicates the Picatinny Rail on your rifle, allowing you
to mount optics to the Rail Vise for cleaning or battery changes. Included with the Rail Vise is the Adapter Rail.
This component is inserted into the Charging Handle slot and allows the Rail Vise to be used on those rifles
that do not have a Picatinny rail or where the rail is occupied with optics.
The main clamping vise allows for quick changes from configuration to configuration simply by flipping the
clamping lever open, inserting the appropriate insert and flipping the lever closed. Configurations can easily
be changed in under one minute.
